If you’re a fan of comedy series on the internet, then chances are you’ve heard of the Chicago-based group, The Wilton Way.

The Pizza Film Fest is proud to announce that one of its cast members, Matthew Riggs, will be joining us on the night of the festival with his short film called Pizza Anytime?.

“The movie I made is a look at advertising of a pizza-related product. It takes a look straight in the face of corporate America and then quickly looks away,” Riggs said of his film.

As with many filmmakers before him, Riggs is hoping to make a statement with his newest project.

“I could only hope that through my film, I make people wonder, I make people think and I make people a little hungry,” he said.

Can’t wait to see the film? Come out to The Hungry Brain on November 16th!

In the meantime, check out Riggs’ other projects at www.videobash.com/profile/TheWiltonWay.

Pizza Anytime will premiere at The Pizza Film Festival, November 16th.

CJ Toledano to host Pizza Film Fest

CJ Toledano's birthday cake, 2010.

Chicago stand-up comic and pizza lover, CJ Toledano, has been named the Master of Ceremonies of the Pizza Film Festival at the Hungry Brain on November 16th, 2010.

For Toledano, co-host of The Late Live Show at The Second City’s de Maat Theater, this is two pieces of great news in just one week’s time.  Last week, he was invited to be a script intern for Conan O’Brien’s new show in January, but the news of the Pizza Film Festival is definitely more exciting.

According to the festival producer, Tia Ayers, Toledano is the perfect host for The Pizza Film Fest.

“He loves pizza and movies. All movies. Even Cameron Crowe movies,” Ayers said.

According to Toledano himself, he eats pizza six times a week and has about 15 pizza-related jokes in his material. It’s not known how many movies he watches per week, but due to his free rental hook-up at Blockbuster Video, it must be a lot.

Back stage at the de Maat Theater on Saturday night, Toledano expressed his excitement for the upcoming festival.

“To be named the host of the Pizza Film Festival is great ‘cuz everyone knows I like pizza– Naw sayin’?” Toledano said. ”Sorry, I write in “tweet.” Is that quote 140 characters?”

Ethan Peldo and Kevin Lee, fellow comics and Late Live Show writers, also shared their thoughts on Toledano’s newest hosting assignment.

“CJ will be a great host because he likes pizza– Naw sayin’?” Peldo said.

“Probably garlic crust… Because… Probably Giordanos,” Lee arbitrarily added.

Just before taking the stage at the de Maat, Toledano turned back to interject one last thought about the Pizza Film Festival.

“I’m really egg-cited… Oops, wrong festival.”

We’re looking for short films for the Pizza Film Festival!

The requirements are simple:

1) The film should be between 2 and 10 minutes.

2) The film has to show or mention pizza.

FAQ

Q: Does the film have to be about pizza?

A: No. Make your pizza reference as obscure as possible or make the entire movie about pizza. It’s up to you!

Q: I already have a short film done, but there’s no pizza in it. What do I do?

A: Is there any way you can sneak a graphic of a pizza into the movie? If the answer is yes, we’ll consider it, especially if you can make the reference hilarious.

Q: I really want to make a short film, but I don’t have one yet.

A: That’s okay! You’ve got time!

Q: Well, when do you need it done?

A: The earlier the better. We’d like to know the concept and approximate length by November 1st, but the film doesn’t have to be in our hands until November 9th!

Q: How do I submit my film?

A: E-mail a link to submissions@pizzafilmfest.com. Include your name and contact information.
